Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

On 2020-04-21, my wife's fully up-to-date Windows 10 computer stopped having the ability to print (kept bringing up Print to File when trying to print).  After fixing that issue by reinstalling the printer and making sure it is the default, printing works fine, but HP Smart no longer has any clue about how to fax via HP Smart.

The only way to send a fax is via the panel on the front of the device.  I used to be able to send a fax via HP Smart, but ever since this printer problem cropped up and was fixed, I can no longer SOFTWARE fax from the HP Smart application.

How do I reinstate SOFTWARE fax capabilities to HP Smart?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Uninstall and reinstall HP Smart App and try again.
