The printer is printing perfectly from my computer and is online in my computer printer settings, but the HP Smart App always says its offline. This prevents me from scanning to my computer. I have to restart my computer every time I want to scan something. Right after I reset my computer the app says it's online, and I can scan, but as soon as I finish scanning it goes back to being offline. I've run the Diagnose & Fix feature in the app, but it says everything is fine. My printer is connected via WiFi. Should I just reinstall the software?

This seems like an issue with the app. You may try reinstalling the Hp Smart app.

 

Alternatively, click here to download HP Scan Extended application to scan from your PC

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

reinstalling software didn't fix it. Downloaded the HP scan extend thing, but when i open it and error window opens up saying device not found.........

Kindly check the connection between the printer and the computer.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
  • Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the PC and check on the Smart app. If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Let us install the full-feature printer driver to print and scan from the PC

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
