HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The specifications for this printer says it can scan at 1200dpi.  Going to the web page of the printer I can set it to scan at 600 DPI.  Is it possible to set to scan at 1200dpi?  If so, how do you do it?  if not, why bother having specs that it can do something it can't do?

Why couldn't you just write,

1. Open HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series-HP Scan software.

2. select shortcut.

3. click [More>]

4. select [Scan]

5. change source to [Flatbed]

6. select [Image]

7. Change [Resolution (pp)] to 1200 (note, 1200 will only appear when flatbed is selected)

Videos are a complete waste of time.  First, they take a lot of time to view.  Second, it takes a lot of [||] and [>] mouse clicking or screen touching.  Third, it is difficult to go back to a section to confirm that the process was done properly

Yes, a solution was provided.  This solution highlights the very poor user interface.  Which, in my case, now does not show the values of configuration of the various shortcuts.

Finally Both youtube videos require one to view at least four seconds of advertising.   Is HP so desperate for money that they must resort to such tactics?  Is this a Carly legacy attitude?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Yes you can scan at 1200 DPI.  You will need to ensure that the FULLfeatured software is installed.

Check out these resources on how to scan 1200 dpi:

Install FULL featured software for OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer

Scan High Resolution (example)

Hope that helps!

Hi @Greenturtle and @OldSurferDude

I agree with OldSurferDude!!!

I just bought this printer and wanted to scan some documents with more than 600dpi but conld not find the option for this ....

And the videos you offered as an support-answer are not more that a joke .... Of course they are not made by hp .... But why are you wasting other peoples time with spreading this dumb video-links!

I was really greatful that Dude wrote this To-Do-List! That's what I would have expected from you as an support!!

But wouldn't it be good to make your HP-Scan-Software even a bit smarter ....

So here is my suggestion:

Within the DPI-DropDownSelection there are all availible DPI's (75 .... 1200).

When choosing the 600 or 1200dpi option the software recognises that the software is not in "Flatbed"-modus and sends a message to the user like: "You are about to scan with more than 300dpi. This option is only availible when using the Flatbed. Is it ok to change scanning source to Flatbed?"

And then - voilla - everybody will find the options availibe on this nice printer .... Can't be so difficult to implement such a behaviour 😉

Maybe you could send this to your software engineers, so they can make your software really a bit smarter 😄

Joe

Hi @JoeTheFirst  and @OldSurferDude

Thanks for your feedback. There are non-savvy folks that need step by step with pictures to help them.  Videos provides that assistance.

Cheers.

Hi @Greenturtle,

in my eyes your answer makes totally no sense... Nobody is against videos and of course there ar guys who rather look videos instead of reading.... but then the videos should show the solution. They should not be a waste of time!

For thefuture: Please watch the video and make sure that the solution is beeing explained BEFORE posting the link!!!!

Regards

Joe
