HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

For months I had no problem with the scan2Email function of my printer, but since 3 days it does not work anymore.

When tryint to scan to email , after choosing on of my receivers, i get the error message:

Server failure. Try later again.

This never happened before. So I went to the printers settings and checked the SMTP settings. All are correct.

So i tried "Send a test email to".

After 2 seconds I am getting this error:

"SMTP email server error. The server might be down or busy. Try again later.

Click "OK" to go back."

I changed the senders SMTP account, using accounts from 4 different hosters: **bleep**, web.de and some others.

Always the same error.

What can I do?

Marc

one comment on this:

this is not a **bleep** authentication issue, as this error comes with ANY other hoster too.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.

Firstly. let's update the printer firmware, download available firmware updates from the HP website with the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Once done, restart the printer and check.

If the issue persists, try creating a new scan to the email profile and then try to check. You can follow the steps below:

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.

  2. Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.

  3. From the EWS, click the Scan tab.

  4. Click Scan to Email Setup.

  5. Click Outgoing Email Profile, click New, and then enter the email address you intend to use with this profile.

  6. Enter a display name that will appear on the printer's control panel to identify this email profile.

  7. Enter or confirm the correct SMTP server and SMTP port information.

  8. If you typically have to enter a user name and password to log into your email account, you will want to enter this information into the email authentication fields, and then click Next.

  9. Enter a security PIN to restrict access to this email profile, if desired.

  10. Set the size for email files and specify Auto CC, if desired.

  11. Click Save or Save and test to complete the profile.

Assign manual IP to the printer-

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.

Try scanning.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
