We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I have a Mac mini.  My husband (with a PC) recently added Microsoft Word to his computer and added it to mine.  Would this have anything to do with my printer HP officejet  Pro 8034e no longer copying or scanning.  ( I was able to print a test page successfully, but then could not copy /print it.)

Hi @Carolal

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how confusing it feels when your OfficeJet Pro 8034e suddenly stops copying or scanning, especially after you’ve already confirmed that printing a test page works fine.

You’ve shown great care in checking the basics, and I appreciate the effort you’ve put in. To clarify first: installing Microsoft Word on your Mac mini would not affect the printer’s ability to copy or scan. Copying is handled directly by the printer hardware, and scanning relies on the printer’s communication with macOS through the HP App.

Here are steps you can try to restore scanning and copying:

1. Test copying directly from the printer

  • Place a document on the scanner glass.
  • Press the Copy button on the printer’s control panel.
  • If the printer does not respond, power it off, unplug for 60 seconds, then restart and try again.

2. Reset the printer connection

  • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds to reset network settings.
  • Reconnect the printer to your Wi‑Fi network.
  • On your Mac, open the HP App and re‑add the printer.

3. Verify scanning through the HP App

  • Open the HP App on your Mac.
  • Select your OfficeJet Pro 8034e → Scan.
  • Place a document on the scanner glass and click Scan.
  • Save the file to your Mac and check if the scan completes.

4. Check macOS printer settings

  • Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners.
  • Ensure your OfficeJet Pro 8034e is listed.
  • If not, click “+” to add it again.
  • Confirm the driver selected is “HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 series” and not “Generic.”

Since printing works, the hardware is fine. Restoring the connection through the HP App and re‑adding the printer usually resolves scanning and copying issues. Once the printer is re‑synchronized, you should be able to copy directly from the control panel and scan from your Mac again.
