Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I used HP Doctor to update my scanning software and after it downloaded and ran, I was not given an option of 2-sided scanning.
I know this is a manual operation, where one is prompted to do the work to flip pages and start scan again.

Not a problem, I just want this to work.

 

Option is unavailable in the advanced drop-down menu completely in the "new" HP Doctor version.

 

Help. I have a lot of scanning to do.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list. 
  2. Restart the PC
  3. Close all programs
  4. download only this complete package: HP OfficeJet 3830 series Print and Scan Driver and Accessories 
  5. Close all programs
  6. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE,
    File name: Full_Webpack-40.17.1248-OJ3830_Full_Webpack.exe (149.7 MB)
  7. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
  8. Restart the System again
  9. Now the installation is complete.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

 

If the installation was successful and manual double-sided scanning still does not work, then

try this Solution:

  1. Download only this file: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
  2. Close all programs

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the msi.

OPTIONAL:

    Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
    • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
    • Right-Click on "HPScan.exe" > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
