HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer - G510g
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After reinstalling Windows 10 I have problems with my Officejet 4500. HP Scan allows me to print, but does not see the scanner. I have already tried all the solutions found on the site; I also tried to reinstall the printer with its original cd, but the installation cannot be completed. Can you help me, please? Thank you

Thanks to Mans and FerRx. In new installation I ignored the error messages and can now use Windows scanner and fax; however, other programs such as UP Extended Scan and HP Solution Centers do not work. However I am satisfied. Greetings.

Hello,

Try installing your printer as follows:

  1. Insert the printer installation CD/DVD.
  2. Go to the installation CD/DVD drive.
  3. Right-click on Setup.exe and click on Properties.
  4. Click on the Compatibility tab, and then check the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box, in the drop-down list select Windows Vista.
  5. Click on Apply and OK.
  6. After that, right-click on Setup.exe, and then on Run as administrator.
  7. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation of your printer.

Don't hesitate to contact us in case of need.

Thank you for your answer, but I have already done so; unfortunately the installation cannot be completed. However, with the Windows 10 driver I can print, but it is impossible to use the scanner, which is not seen by either HP Smart or HP Scan Extendend, etc. Instead a paid program (Vue Scan x64) works: why? Thank you.

@framag52

Thanks for your return,

To scan with the printer, try the Microsoft Store application: Windows Scan.

It is possible, that there is a problem during the installation of the printer.

If the issue continues, please follow the following procedure:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the USB port on the computer and the back of the printer.
  2. Press the Windows flag and the R key simultaneously. The Run window opens.
  3. Type %temp%, then OK. the temp folder opens.
  4. Locate then double click on the 7zS... folder (if there are several, choose the most recent one).
  5. Double click on the util folder, then ccc and run Uninstall_L1.bat. The computer will restart after the uninstallation.
  6. Re-access the same location to launch Uninstall_L2.bat, Uninstall_L3.bat and Uninstall_L4.bat.
  7. After the last restart of the PC, launch the registry editor:
    1. Press the Windows flag and the R key simultaneously. The Run window opens.
    2. Type regedit, then OK. The registry editor opens.
    3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, right-click on Hewlett-Packard and Delete. (If the PC is HP brand, develop Hewlett-Packard and delete Digital Imaging)
  8. Delete the HP Officejet 4500 series G510 folder in the path:
    • C:\Program files (x86)\HP
    • C:\Program files\HP
  9. Launch a new the printer installation with the installation CD/DVD.

I am really angry and disappointed! After 4 days I have problems with the printer again (offline, even if installed, unable to print). I again followed the complete uninstall instructions and reinstalled from CD. This time I could not complete the installation, because the printer - despite being present in the Control Panel - was not detected. Now with the Windows 10 driver I can at least print, but there is no way to use the scanner: neither the Windows program nor HP Smart see the scanner; the only one with which I can scan is, as I had already written, VueScan x64, which however is paid. Is it possible that there is no definitive solution? Thank you.
