When Scanning a document with my Officejet 5742 Printer, I had a 'Tick Box' selectable if I wanted to scan both sides of a page. The process was not automatic, after scanning one side of a page (or several pages) a window would open instructing the user to remove the page or pages, rotate them and put them back in the feeder. On clicking the 'OK' button in the window the program would continue to scan the other side of the pages and, if several pages, would organise the scans into the correct sequence

 

Today (04 Aug 16) I installed the latest 'Full Software' as requested by the HP Software. Now there is no 2 sided scanning option. I contacted HP Help by telephone (Ref: 3030910759) and was eventually told this model only does one sided scanning. I said that it was doing 2 sided in the morning but not post update. They were unable to give me any further assistance so I said I would try a different approach.

 

I can do 2 sided by selecting to 'add' a page but that isn't as simple as selecting a tick box and isn't effective if doing a stack of pages.

 

Any Ideas?

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

 

This relevant resource will show you how to do the 2 sided document scan.

 

HP Officejet Pro 6960 : Scan a 6 pages 2 sided document using the ADF

Thanks, the ExtendedScan Software has done the trick, 2 sided scannin now in operation.

 

Is there any way of making the 'Full Software' use the 'Extended Scan Software'. Not a major problem, but would eliminate the need to use 2 programs.

The HP Scan Extended is a standalone.  It does seem that your FULL feature software is also use the HP Scan Extended User Interface?

Both sets of scanning sotware look identical to use it is simply that, in the 'Full Software version, the 2 sided option is not on the dropdown menu. I did reinstall the program initially but the problem remained.

 

Anyway, thanks for the assistance and I'll call the issue fixed.
