HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - E710n
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I have an older HP printer/scanner (Officejet 6500A Plus). Very recently got a new Macbook Air with Monterey (MacOS 12.2.1). Was able to add the printer easily, and I can print. However, I cannot scan (which is required to do my job). My device no longer shows up at all in Image Capture. The printer appears in Printers/Scanners (System Preferences) but only as a printer, not as a scanner.

Hi,

Please make sure your macOS is fully up to date by installing any update for your macOS:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201541

 

Next, uninstall any existing HP Software by following the HP Uninstaller Utility below:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/HP_Uninstaller...

 

Next, download and install the latest drivers below:

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?locale=en_US

 

Finally,  open System Preferences, and then open Printers & Scanners to re-add your printer. be sure to select the printer model within the Use drop-down menu.
