Thank you for your help.  I look forward to hearing from HP.

Hi, I'm still waiting to hear from someone at HP. Within a short period of time I needed to decide whether to trash the printer and buy a different brand.

I have the same issue. Tried all of the suggenstions with no affect. Also did a clean install and the latest driver was downloaded. Question is will the driver be updated?

Thanks

It's incredibly frustrating.  I've continued to exchange e-mails with HP Support and received another e-mail today stating that they are "escalating" the problem.  Cleary, they are aware of the issue as a simple google search or a review of other posts on this form make it clear that several printers are impacted by the problem. An easy work around would be for them to update their "Easy Scan" software app.  I have no idea why they refuse to do it.

If I finally hear back from HP with a solution, I'll post it here.  By the way, the "vuescan" program at www.hamrick.com may be a viable alternative, but it's not cheap if you get the fully functional program.  HP lists it as a possible alternative on their own website:  http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03479564

I just bought hp enterprise mfp 586 z, i work with mac os sierra...after installing software ; i could print, but no scanning..
Then i contacted 2 times the chat help; hp te hnicians took over with remote app; after 4 hours of online help, the technician told me that it is caused by a networkproblem,,, and now i even can t print anymore!
Before the help , i could print via the network, so wy would it be a problem to scan with the same network.. hp easy scan doesn t recognise the hp mfp... is there anyone who can help me please, i use it for my independant work and need it urgently, hp technicians try to get rid off, if they can t solve the problem online, they should send a technician to my office!

Thank you for the suggestion but I have berfied that I am using the latest HP driver - from both Apple and HP. I remain convinced that I must wait for six months or so until both companies decide to do what is right to support the people who buy their products. Unfortunately, I see little other remedy besides paying a couple of hundred dollors for a free upgrade.

Have you ever called your phone suppor? PM tje ptjer jamd. of the problem will not be fixed for another six months, this is probably a rasonable way to while away the time.

I have an Officejet 4500 G10a with the same exact problem! UGH! So frustrating. I have done everything suggested on here and it has the same results - the scanner does not work like it did before! Come on HP get your act together! People buy your products to be able to use them!
On my Mac if I go to the Printers/Scanners under System Preferences and double click on it, it brings up my printers. I can click on the HP OJ 4500 one and select it, it does show a "Print/Scan" option above the bolded name of the printer. I can select "Scan" on there. When I select "Scan", it shows a button below the bolded name of the printer; "Open Scanner".  I click on that. It brings up the scanner with 9 choices of where to put the file (be careful and remember what you select), you can select "letter size", then whether or not to "show details" (I do not have this selected). And then the last button is the scan button. If it names the image "Scan 1", "Scan 2", etc. then it has saved the Scan. Hallelujuah! If not you will need to press the Scan button again. It's not ideal but it does work on Macbook with OS Sierra. Hope this helps!
