Using HP OfficeJet Pro 8620.  Upgraded to Win 11 and then printer required software upgrade. Now can't scan from printer any longer. Smart app makes me run back and forth between printer and laptop. Old Scan and Print Doctor fixed it every time.

Hi @mudpuppy1756,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to deal with scanning issues after updating your printer software and operating system. Let's try some troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem:

Restart Everything: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix connectivity issues. Turn off both your printer and computer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn them back on.

Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer and that both devices are connected to the same network. You might want to try connecting the printer directly to your computer via USB cable to see if that resolves the issue.

Update Drivers: Even though you've updated your printer software, it's worth double-checking if there are any further updates available for your printer drivers. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers compatible with Windows 11.

Reinstall Software: Try uninstalling the printer software from your computer and then reinstalling it. This process can help to fix any corrupted files or settings that might be causing the issue.

Reset Printer Settings: Resetting your printer to its default settings can sometimes resolve software-related issues. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Run Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooting tools that can help identify and fix common printer problems. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and then select the Printer troubleshooter.

Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings: Sometimes, security software can interfere with the communication between your printer and computer. Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software to see if that resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
