Hello, I am trying to scan multiple documents using the automatic document feeder.  I have the full driver installed, and have changed the paper size to custom which is 7.4 inches x 9.13 inches, two-sided.  I enter to scan, it scans until it realizes that the document is too short and it stops the process.  The error on the printer shows as "ORIGINAL IS TOO SHORT", "The document feeder only supports double-sided scanning for certain paper sizes."  HP's website says:

For two-sided scanning, use A4 or letter-size media. The ADF cannot scan both sides of a document smaller than 127 x 127 mm (5 x 5 inches) or larger than 210 x 304.8 mm (8.5 x 12 inches).
NOTE:
To scan both sides of a legal-size document, 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 14 inches), scan one side from the ADF, turn the document over, and then scan the other side from the ADF.

Custom-size media ranging from 88.9 x 127 mm (3.5 x 5 inches) to 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 14 inches) can be scanned with the one-sided option.

My document is within the custom-size media dimensions, but my scanner is not doing so. Is there no other way to use the ADF without using the one-sided option?  As I have got a whole stack of papers to scan :Crying:

Hello! thank you for your response. Yes, I made the necessary choices and it didn't work. 😞

Error message reads: Original too short. The document feeder only supports double-sided scanning  for certain paper sizes. If your original is too short use the scanner glass.

(Smh) Unhelpful and Ineffective Custom option.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:
