Hello,

 

I'm having a problem with this printer when in comes to Saving Fax to local folder network. I have no issue on my HP Officejet 8600 before but since the print head is having a problem Im force to buy 8710. 

 

Everything is set for this 8710, tested good with no error. But after sometime when i go back to the printer and check the fax icon it is having this yellow triangle that indicates digital fax error. I do every solution i found including resetting the printer to its factory default (many many times).

 

If the printer however received a fax, the file is corrupted and infesting my Network and cost downtime. 

Please need your help on this...

Let's start off by updating the printer firmware: 

 

If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to install the latest firmware update on your printer from our HP support website. Alternatively you can also try to update the printer firmware directly from the printer control panel.

For more details on how to update, please use this link: HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Once done, restart the printer. 

 

Now let's run the digital fax setup tool and check:

Hi.

 

Printer firmware is up-to-date. I followed the FAX setting up instruction many many times including resetting to default the printer still the same... Fax received is corrupted..

Let's try to print the Print quality diagnostics to ensure the printer hardware is functioning correctly. 

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, touch the Setup icon , swipe up on the display, touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.

Examine the report for defects: You may refer to this support document - HP OfficeJet 8700 Printers - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

 

If the report comes out fine, then let's work on the fax related issue. 

 

The computer where the network folder is located is turned off
If you are using Fax to Network Folder, make sure the computer selected to receive
faxes is switched on at all times and connected to the network.

 

The network folder has not been set up correctly
If you are using Fax to Network Folder, verify the following:


• Make sure the folder is created on the server. For more information, see the
documentation available for your operating system.

 

• Make sure the folder has been shared and that users can both read and write to
the folder. If you are using a Macintosh computer, make sure you have enabled
SMB sharing. For more information, see the documentation available for your
operating system.

 

• Make sure the folder name uses only the letters or characters supported by the
operating system. For more information, see the documentation available with the
operating system.

 

• Make sure the folder name is entered in the correct format in the HP software.
For more information, see the information in the wizard or the setup assistant.

 

• Make sure the valid username and password have been entered. For more
information, see the information in the wizard or the setup assistant.

 

Error conditions are interfering with HP Digital Fax
If the printer has been configured to print incoming faxes but is out of paper, load paper
in the input tray or resolve the error condition. After the incoming faxes are printed,
they are saved to the network folder or forwarded to the designated email address
once printed.
