Like many, doing for work from home now.  Trying to set up scan to network folder capability.  When I test it, get the usual cannot connect to network, try again message.  No clue what to do.  Been dealing with this for a couple hours, viewing numerous tutorials online and posts from the past.

Is my path name wrong to my Mac?  If so, how do you get it right?'

Should be noted, wireless printing capabilities are fine, and I'm able to scan to computer.  I do have an Eero mesh system.  No clue if that affects anything.

Thank you

Hi @crscott79

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Scan to Network Folder".

To better assist you - What's the exact error? Can you please post the picture of the error screen?

Try updating the Mac using these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

Update the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue still persists, try to re-configure the "Scan to Network" -

1.) Make sure your printer is connected to the same wireless network as your Mac.

2.) Create a folder on your Mac.

3.) On the top bar, click the Apple icon , and then click System Preferences.

4.) In the System Preferences window, click Sharing.

Clicking Sharing in the System Preferences window

5.) Select the File Sharing check box, and then click the Plus sign  under Shared Folders.

Clicking the Plus sign to add a new Shared Folder

6.) Navigate to the folder you created, and then click Add.

7.) Add your unsername under Users, if necessary.

8.) Click Options, make sure the Share files and folders using SMB check box is selected, and then click Done.

9.) Open a browser, type the printer IP address into the search bar, and then hit Enter to open the EWS.

NOTE: To find the printer IP address, open the Wireless  menu on the printer control panel.

10.) On the Home tab of the EWS, click Scan to Network Folder.

Clicking Scan to Network Folder on the EWS Home tab

11.) Click the New Folder icon.

Clicking the New Folder icon

12.) Type a Display Name, type the Network Path, and then click Next.

  • The Display Name is what you want the folder to display as on the printer control panel. It does not have to be the same name as the shared folder on your Mac.

  • The Network Path is the Mac's IP address followed by the name of the shared folder on your Mac. To find your Mac's IP address, click the Apple icon , click System Preferences, and then click Network. The IP address displays next to Status.

Typing a Display Name and Network Path, and then clicking Next

13.) Follow the on-screen instructions to type your username and password, create a security pin, if desired, and then click Next.

14.) Follow the on-screen prompts to save and test the Network Path.

The Scan to Network Folder feature is configured and your shared folder displays on the printer control panel.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
