HP PRO 8600 series
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

HP Pro 8600 series will not scan to computer but will scan to email. I have used the Wireless Wizard several times and each time it says it's connected but when I try to scan it says it's not connected. It scans to email and prints just fine. I'm using Windows 7  64bit.

Welcome to HP support community.

Look in your Win 7 Start > All Programs for the HP Officejet Pro 8600, and for the Printer Assistant.

So open the Printer Assistant, click Print & Scan > Scan > Manage Scan to Computer. A popup may be reflecting Scan to Computer is Disabled. Click "Enable."

I hope that helps.

It is HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 and there is no Printer Assistant listed. I have reinstalled this twice now.  It works for a day then stops working. I run a business and this is seriously impacting what I do.  I bought this HP because my last printer worked just great until it finally died. This is not what I was expecting. I literally don't know what to do next.

I also just tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it said everything was fine and asked if I wanted a test scan.  I said yes to the test scan but it didn't scan. It says selected computer is not available.  It says it's connected to the network and gives the correct network name but obviously it's not.

Check Windows Image Acquisition settings

  • 1. In Windows, search for and open View local services .

  • 2. In the Services window, scroll down the list and find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) .

  • 3. Look at the Status and Startup Type values.

    • If the status is Started or Running and the Startup Type is Automatic, WIA is running correctly. Skip to the next step.

Making sure WIA Status is Running and Startup Type is Automatic

    • If the status is Disabled or no status displays, right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), click Properties, click the General tab, select Automatic from the Startup type dropdown menu, and then click Start.
