Photosmart 5524
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Photosmart 5524 printer/ scanner.

I want it to save my email address in the memory so that when I scan documents, it can send them straight to my email.

I used to be able to do this as my email address appeared as an option when I clicked on 'Scan' and it invited me to 'Select Your Account' from those listed. However, the memory has now 'lost' my email address so I have to type it in manually every time I want to scan something. When I try to add my email address ('Add User' function) within the memory, it says that I cannot do this as that email address has already been saved.

Any help would be much appreciated

As I understand you are having issues with scanning to email feature being not accepted on your HP Photosmart 5524 printer. Don't worry we'll work together to find a solution for you,

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Please perform a Hard Reset on the Printer.

* With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

* Remove USB cable, if present.

* Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

* Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

* Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

For more details, please follow the steps suggested in the support document -  Click here

If the issue persists, then I would suggest you might have to perform an Advanced reset on the printer. I have sent you the instructions in a private message. If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

Jeet,

I've tried all of the above -  a hard reset and then an advanced reset (restoring factory defaults) but am still getting the error message.

Which server is the printer trying to connect to? Could the issue be anything to do with my laptop or is it the printer?

Ed
