Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I own an HP Photosmart C4680 printer and scanner.  I cannot install my driver.  Cannot use Solution Center because no more flash, on another hard drive I have the HP stuff installed, but unable to run the hpiscnapp.exe file.  It says, This application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.  When I try to run any of the HP exe files, I get that error message.

I tried running HP smart, says my printer isn't connected, even though it is on.  I don't think HP smart is compatible because of how old the printer is.

I am able to print, but I cannot scan.  I need my scanner working.  I have tried the HP Scan extended, when I run it, I just get an error message.  I've ran HP Print and scan doctor, that was no help at all.

Am I out of luck with my printer, or is there a way to be able to use the scanner again?  I even tried free software, not even that free software could find my scanner.  Because my printer driver from the disk isn't able to be installed.

This is extremely frustrating.  I read an article about a workaround to the flash, but I'm on a brand new win10 installation on a brand new hard drive.  No flash player of any kind was ever installed, and so I don't have anything flash related.

If someone can help me out, it'd be appreciated.  Thanks.
