Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I have to disable then re-enable network scanning on a daily basis through the HP Printer Assistant for [scan to computer] to work on my M479fdw. Why? How can I set this up so I do not have to do this constantly?

Hi,

Hope you are well, one thing to try is to go to the printer app icon on the computer desktop and once the app is opened, it will give the option for Scan on the top tab, then select Manage scan to computer and make sure its enabled, in case its disabled, please enable it from here.

The HP M479fdw printer app is the root of the application, not the HP printer assistant, the HP assistant will scan every HP software installed and I believe at this point its getting glitched, so uninstalling the HP Assistant and making sure the printer app has the scan to computer enable is enough for the feature to work.  In case you want to keep using the HP printer Assistant, just reinstall it by using this link : click_here
