Hi @charlespatton,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the resolution or file format of the scanned images when you email them. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue.

  • Check Scanner Settings: Make sure that your scanner settings are configured correctly. Look for options related to resolution (dpi - dots per inch), file format (JPEG, PDF, etc.), and compression settings. You may need to adjust these settings to ensure that the scanned images are of sufficient quality for emailing.
  • Resolution: Higher resolution images will generally result in larger file sizes, but they will also provide better image quality. Try increasing the resolution of your scanned images to see if that improves the readability when emailed. Aim for a resolution of at least 300 dpi for clear, printable images.
  • File Format: Ensure that you are saving the scanned images in a widely compatible file format such as JPEG or PDF. These formats are generally supported by most email clients and will ensure that the images can be easily viewed by the recipient.
  • Compression Settings: If your scanner software allows it, check the compression settings for the scanned images. Sometimes, overly aggressive compression can lead to loss of image quality. Try reducing the amount of compression or disabling it altogether to see if that helps.
  • Test with Different Email Clients: Try sending the scanned images to yourself using different email clients (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) to see if the issue persists across all platforms. This can help determine if the problem lies with the scanner settings or with the email client.
  • Update Software/Drivers: Ensure that your scanner's software and drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated software can cause compatibility issues that affect the quality of scanned images.

By following these steps, you should be able to improve the readability of scanned images when emailing them from your HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
