Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I got a replacement printer within guarantee time which expired but the problem arises again.  When you open or close or move the scanner lid of the smart tank printer it makes a cracking noise and it does not open or close without problems. The hinges (or one of them)seem to be bad or broken  . You have to lift the lid a little bit to open and close it properly. In my view there is a construction problem with it because the lid with the document feeder on top is much too heavy for the hinges to hold it. I have only problems with this kind of printer and this error appears for the second time. Moreover often its loosing the WIFI connection without any reason. HP please try out your printers, you have a quality problem !

Hi @Rest007,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how frustrating this must be for you, especially after going through a replacement and then seeing the same issue again. That cracking sound when opening or closing the scanner lid can feel alarming, and having to lift the lid manually just to make it work is definitely not the experience you expect from an HP Smart Tank printer.

You’re absolutely right that the lid with the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) adds extra weight, and if the hinge mechanism is compromised, it can cause exactly the symptoms you described. Let’s go through the recommended steps:

Step 1: Inspect the Hinges

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the scanner lid slowly and check both hinges for cracks, misalignment, or broken plastic.
  • If you see damage, the hinge assembly likely needs replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
