I'm trying to set up scan to email with SMTP from 2 HP MFPs

An HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer and an HP OfficeJet Pro 8710

Previously everything worked great sending mail via 365, however we recently turned on MFA for 365, long story short. We are using AmazonSES for e-mail instead.

I am able to send emails using an SMTP test tool on my PC Proof  (This test was done on the same public IPs that the printers sit on, too. So you can rule out an IP blacklist/block)

 

So now I try to configure these MFPs. Each one gives me a different error.

 

One says "SMTP email authentication required. Check your username/password and try again." and acts like I didn't configure authentication, which is rediculous, because you can clearly see I configured that.

 

The other MFP says "SMTP email server error. The server might be down or busy. Try again later."

 

So I've tried:

  • Factory resetting the device and trying to re-configure
  • Turning the radio box off, saving, then on, then testing
  • Trying different ports 587,25,465
  • Using an IP address instead of the hostname for AWS thinking something may be amiss with DNS
  • Turned off IPv6
