I am trying to use older HP Scan 1000 C9900A with newer Windows 10. I can not find my old driver. Where can I down load a copy?

The HP ScanJet 1000 (C9900A) is quite an old model, and HP does not provide official drivers for Windows 10 for this device. However, you have a few options to try.

 

  • Compatibility Mode: If you still have the old driver for an earlier version of Windows (like Windows XP, Vista, or 7), you could try installing it in compatibility mode. Right-click the driver file, select Properties > Compatibility, then choose an older version of Windows that the scanner supported.
  • VueScan: This is third-party scanning software that supports many legacy scanners on modern systems. It can work as a substitute for the original driver. You can download VueScan from their official website, but note that there is a cost for this software.
  • Windows Update or Windows Scan: Sometimes, Windows Update may provide a generic driver for older devices. You can connect the scanner, go to Device Manager, and try updating or adding the scanner via Windows Update.
