I was able to scan documents using the HP Smart App until today wnen I ran an HP update. Now HP Scan Assistant cannot find the scanner. The scanner is my HP Officejet Pro 9010. When I try to install the scanner software I get an "Unsuccesful Nerwork Installation", "Device was unable to be installed over the network." The I am able to print to the 9101 so I know it is connected to the network but the scanner software is unable to connect to the 9010. Any and all suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

It seems you are facing connectivity issues with the scanner functionality of your HP Officejet Pro 9010 after updating your software. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the issue:

 

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that both your printer and your computer are connected to the same network. You can verify this by accessing your printer settings and checking the network connection status.
  • Move the printer and computer closer to the router to avoid weak signal issues.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your printer and the computer. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues by clearing temporary configurations and errors.

Update Drivers and Software:

  • Visit the HP Support to download the latest drivers and software for your HP Officejet Pro 9010. It's important that the scanner software is up-to-date after running an HP update.
  • If you are using Windows, ensure that Windows Fax and Scan is enabled and try using it to see if it recognizes your scanner.

Reinstall the Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the current software for the HP Officejet Pro 9010 from your computer, then reinstall it using the software downloaded from HP’s website. Make sure to select the Full Feature Software and Driver.

Re-connect the Printer to the Network:

  • On printers with a touchscreen control panel, use the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect the printer to your network. Ensure you input the correct network password.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Make sure there are no firewall settings or third-party security software blocking the connection. Temporarily disable them to check if they are causing the issue.
