Laserjet Pro MFP M426fdn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I encountered a bizarre problem with scanning on my Laserjet at work.

Scan works only every other time, scan once: failure, scan twice: success with no problems. HP Doctor 5.5.2 finds no issue, says scan works, crashes to error "HP LJ M426f427f Scan not found" on test page scan. Last Printer Software is from 2019, has no updates. Several uninstalls and reinstalls of HP Driver Suite to no avail, Freshly installed HP Scan won't open and crashes to same error message. Same problem across different scanening frontends (Windows Scan App, NAPS2, HP Scan etc.) Same problem on another (86x) machine, too.

I thought it was a driver issue. I tried changing the target directory since it looked like an error with writing permissions first but I couldn't find a directory that works.

Hi,

This seems more likely as a connection issue than a driver issue, specially due to affecting multiple computers.

Are the printer and computers connected to the same router or to a different hub

or switch?

Have you tried restarting the router? Please give it a try if not, restart tue printers too as soon as the internet connection returns.

Please let me know,

Shlomi

I believe in a connection issue, too.

The printer is connected to a switch, where also one of the two PCs is plugged in. The second PC is plugged in another network switch. Both PCs however have the same issue. Both machines, swiches, and routers have been plugged and unplugged many times since the problem persist for months.

Is there any way to start the drivers in Debug mode, so that it gives out an error message rather than just saying "oops"?
