Does HP Scan Extended create a searchable pdf?  I can't find it as an option anywhere in the settings.

Hi,

 

No, I don't think HP Scan Extended can do that. Back to Windows 10 Anniversary, it caused a same problem for my loan printer to (my loan printer is an HP Officejet Pro 8620 which is a sister of your printer) and I had to uninstall then re-install software and driver to fix this.

Hi,

 

There is a software called I.R.I.S OCR which comes with your printer (you paid for it already). Please install is from the CD which comes with your printer. You can scan to it and save as editable files.

Thank you for your very quick response!

 

The reason I'm asking about the HP Scan Extended program is because the only way I can scan through my ADF now (after Win10 Anniversary Edition Update) is by using the HP Printer Assistant.  The saga of that issue can be read here:

The HP Printer Assistant works but there are several steps to get to the Scan dialog.  So now I'm hoping to use the HP Scan Extended program instead of the Printer Assistant just to make it a little faster for me to scan.  But I need for the pdf's to be searchable pdf's and I can't find a setting for that in Scan Extended.  Is the I.R.I.S OCR a standalone program?

Uninstalling and reinstalling the software is the only thing I haven't tried yet.  I will do it today and report back.

It worked!  I completely removed the printer and all software, then reinstalled everything and made sure to update.

 

Now I'm able to scan through the ADF while using the Control Panel!
