We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Had to replace my previous 7900 with a new one, and now can't seem to get the old HP Scan Extended software from HP to work. So maddening, because its the best  if you scanning a lot of documents such as receipts, being able to save custom scans and have them automatically save to a directory.

Not sure whether you mean to say you have now an Inspire 7900 series printer of whether you mistyped "7500".

The answer is likely that the very old Scan Extended software is perhaps simply too old and not of the right format to support the new printer.

 

-- What? --

I have some old sample images of the HP Scan Extended software from ten years ago -- the software has been around for at least that long.

 

You could try removing and then reinstalling the Scan Extended software.  

No guarantees, of course -- the Scan Extended software was never meant to last forever.

Consider installing the full driver printer software for your new printer model.

Check / Apply Windows Updates 

 

  • Check / Install any pending Windows Updates 
  • If any updates are applied in Windows Updates, Restart your computer and log in

Next,

Uninstall existing printer software

  • Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
  • If your printer software includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
  • Restart the computer and log in.

Install full driver printer software

  • If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

 

Web Pack Installation - Open Web Page - Full Driver Printer Software

HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software – Offline Use Only

 

  • Open the Web Page
  • Download, Save, and Install the software.
  • If using a USB cable to connect the printer to your computer, connect the cable when instructed to do so, near the end of the software installation process.
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

The full software did the trick, the MS Store smart program is not that smart. The old HP Scan still works flawlessly, as it was with the other 7900. Why HP doesn't stick with that is beyond me.
