Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Scan used to have document counter. i.e. add number to the filename suffix. e.g Image_001, Image_002, ...

However, after recent updates, the document counter option is missing.

It can only use date and time as suffix which is quite inconvient for large number of scans.

Hi @CarsonFan,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The availability of the automatic document counter feature (for example, Image_001, Image_002, etc.) can vary between HP Scan software versions. If the option previously existed and is no longer available after a software update, it may have been changed or removed in the current release.

Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Check HP Scan Advanced Settings:

    • Open HP Scan.

    • Select your scan shortcut and choose More or Advanced Settings.

    • Review the Destination or File Save settings for any available file-naming options.

  2. Use Windows Scan or Windows Fax and Scan:

    • These Windows applications can be used with many HP scanners and may offer a workflow better suited to handling large batches of scanned documents.

  3. Use a Third-Party Scanning Application:

    • Applications such as NAPS2 provide additional file-naming and batch-scanning options that some users find useful when scanning large numbers of documents.

  4. Provide Your Printer Model and HP Scan Version:

    • If you share the exact printer model and the version of HP Scan currently installed, we can check whether the document counter feature is available for that specific software release.

We hope this helps. Please let us know your printer model and HP Scan version if you need further assistance.

Take care and have a great day!

My HP Scan comes with the 3303fdw all-in-one laser printer.

In older version, Destination page has file counter option. After recent update, version 63.7.6442-SJ0001, May 2027, that page was updated and the optinon is gone.  I don't see a proper reason to take out this feature as it is availabe in other similar software. The possible reason is that it is a bug due to Destination Page user interface change.

The latest version 63.8.6459-SJ0001, still has the same problem. Thus I think the developer might NOT be aware of this issue.

Please relay this report to the development team.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We truly value the precision with which you’ve tracked the change in the Destination page and the missing file counter option. Your observation that the feature was present in earlier versions but disappeared after the recent update is very clear and helpful. I’ve documented your report and will relay it to our development team so they can investigate whether this is an unintended change in the interface. We appreciate your patience and the care you’ve taken to highlight this, as it helps us work toward restoring a smoother and more consistent experience.
