Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

From my WIn10 laptop, connected to my HP 9015e, I had been reliably printing and scanning where I do far more scanning than printing.

At some point, the HP Scan app had gone through some major changes from earlier versions I had used. I adapted to the changes and grew to appreciate them especially the ability to save Shortcuts for different scanning configurations for different scanning use-cases.

I recently replaced the older Win 10 laptop with a new Dell XPS 15 laptop and then installed HPEasyStart_14_5_6.exe

All  HP 9015e features appeared to be working fine except for the HP Scan app.

For some reason, the HP Scan screen has shrunk to an unworkable size and cannot be resized.

I have tried reinstalling EasyStart multiple times but without any improvement. I also tried reducing my laptop screen resolution prior to running the installation, and that also failed to improve the size.

While not everyone may experiences this issue, I  have read other posts similar to mine.  Some of the responses have been helpful including references to other scanning software solutions. However, after installing some of them, I find the features offered by HP Scan superior (IMHO). Ultimately, these informed responses do not resolve the issue nor do they give any indication that the problem is internally acknowledged and/or a fix is pending.

Note that when loading the HP Printer Assistant app and in the section Print, Scan & Fax, all the option-selections launch a separate screen that conforms to the screen resolution, except HP Scan. In Windows and I assume any other OS, a screen that does not conform its size to the current UI resolution represents a defect in either the screens original design or the way it is rendered by the calling application.

It's clear that many of the forum respondents have no control over HP product development and maintenance, further, some may generously be contributing their own time, which we should all appreciate. I would only respectfully request that an inquiry is made to HP about the issue and the status of any patch.

Many thanks!
