OfficeJet 8720
Windows 10
HP Scan & Capture
HP Scan & Capture will not OCR. I have to go thru the extra steps of opening doc in Adobe Acrobat, running OCR there, saving again.
1. Is Scan & Capture supposed to be OCR'ing?
2. If not, does HP provide software that will scan and (optionally) OCR the text (as the HP Scan software that was part of the software with the OfficeJet 8600)?

Hi,
The OCR software resides on your computer and you have to use printer Full Feature Software and Drivers to scan, the micky mouse HP Scan & Capture won't do that.
Note: Ihe Software is not from HP it is a product from a third party vendor.
Regards.

After several years of my HP8600 working very well, the scanning function has stopped and will not restart. I updated software, have been using the HP Scan Doctor, have read the Community Support recommendations, and installed additional programs such as the OCR software. Despite all of this, nothing is working. It is too bad that there isn't a more user friendly approach to be able to fix problems like this. Perhaps my printer is just getting to old (4 years) and no longer capable of functioning normally. It states it cannot connect with the wireless signal, but it always connected in the past. It prints beautifully so this doesn't make a lot of sense. I will probably be replacing this printer but I welcome any comments or ideas.
