HP Scan and Capture Duplex Scanning flips on the short edge

I prefer to use HP Scan and Capture (instead of HP Smart) because of it's general functionality, but since I upgraded to a new laptop, it will only flip the page on the short side when I duplex scan!  I have looked through all the printer settings as well as the HP Scan and Capture settings to no avail.  I feel like I fixed this issue when I originally installed, but now can't make it work.  It's frustrating to scan a huge document and then have to rotate every other page.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Not sure -- Flip orientation might be dependent on the supported duplex Page Size.

For example, if you select "letter" page size, that might be different from selecting "Entire Scan Area".

Yes, I know -- that doesn't sound quite right...

If not already done...

Unless something has changed, the HP Scan and Capture application wants (needs) the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software installed as a "foundation" for the app.

HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software (Internet connection required for driver installation) 

During the installation, if / when the option is offered,

Select to install the full software and drivers.

>>> Open the Printer Assistant > tab Scan > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable

Next,

As a test, perhaps try :

HP Scan (part of the full driver printer software)

Compare how the HP Scan software handles the document pages.

Select to Scan 2-sided

Select to orient the scan as "Booklet" style (flip side to side as opposed to flipping from the top)
