HP ScanJet Pro N4600 fnw1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

good evening (at least here in Germany ;-)),

today I tried to install my new N4600 fnw1. I connected it to wired network and set it up to my PC. After that I opened the web interface to do the configuration. First I set up a Admin password as I always do. After trying to install firmware 2.20 over 1.55 which seemed to fail as nothing happened, I tried to restart. After that I was asked for the admin login (as I would expect).

Pasting it from my password manager (the same way I set it) the UI says wrong password.

So I tried to do a factory reset as the support page says: (touchscreen on scanner:) configuration -> reset -> reset.

The problem: I have to input the admin password (which is said not to be correct).

So, how can I do a factory reset without a admin password? Is there any key combination...?

Thanks in advance!

Andi

I have exact the same issue. After copy and paste my passwort from the passwort save. It says incorrect.

In the end the HP Support replaced the Scanner with a new one, as there is NO WAY to reset to factory by Hardware, nor by software without the password. At least not in Firmware < 2.22 (MAYBE in a future release).

By the way: initialization of the replacement was a bit tricky too:

1.55 -> 2.22 is NOT possible via EMS! You have to use the updater via usb which automatically updates to 2.0 first and then to 2.22.

I don‘t know the exact accepted chars for the password as well as max length, so I advice a rather short one (maybe 12-16 chars) 😉
