@837719, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Scanjet 3800 Scanner.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

Unfortunately, the HP Scanjet 3800 scanner does not have official support for Windows 10 as it is considered an older model. However, there are a few steps you can try to make it work:

Steps to Install:

  1. Compatibility Mode:
  2. Try installing the scanner software using Windows Compatibility Mode.
  3. To do this, insert the original CD, right-click on the setup.exe file, and select Properties.
  4. Go to the Compatibility tab, check Run this program in compatibility mode for:, and select Windows 7 from the dropdown list.
  5. Click OK and run the setup.exe file to start the installation.

  6. Windows Update Drivers:

  7. Connect your scanner to your computer and see if Windows Update will automatically find and install a driver.
  8. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and click on Check for updates.

  9. Third-Party Software Solutions:

  10. Some third-party scanning software might be compatible with your scanner. You can search online for TWAIN-compliant software that can recognize older models.

  11. Consider Upgrading:

  12. If the above methods do not work, consider upgrading to a newer HP scanner model that supports Windows 10.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
