Scanjet 4570C

I am hoping that someone can help me here. I have a Scanjet 4570C which I have resurrected to scan some 35mm negatives and some slides. I have downloaded what I could from the HP website in regard to software and drivers. It is using version 2.0 of the scanning and imaging software. I have all the hardware but not the original software CD which would probably help me.

I can successfully scan photos, but can see nowhere to select to scan negatives or slides. I have scanned negatives before, many years ago, but did not like the result so didn't continue.

I have checked the specs and what came with the scanner is imaging version 1.1. I have no problems putting together a PC running any OS from Win 98 to Win 11. I currently have it running on Windows 11 and XP but cannot get it to even show the ability to scan negatives or slides.

Thank you.

Scanning software for older scanners. This is a 3rd party solution and requires a license after the trial period

Thanks BeemerBiker. I did download Vuescan but even the trial version had a watermark on the scanned photos and I didn't want to spend that amount of money on the program. Other programs to try also had the same watermark problem and it made it harder to see the quality of the finished scan.

I tried installing the HP software and driver software on OSs from XP to Win 11 and got the photo scanning function to finally work on one of several installations of Windows 10. Thankfully this was on an image I also had CS5 installed on. 35mm film scanning doesn't work on this but photo scanning works very well.

I did manage to get the 35mm film scanning to work on a Windows XP imaged computer.  However, 12 minutes of scan time for every strip of 4 photos is way too much time for my liking. I also wasn't happy with the finished scan result, it appeared too dark and will probably need a lot of work in Photoshop to get it close to the original photograph. Something I am not adept at nor have the time and patience for now.

If I decide to go down the film/slide scanning route then I will look for something capable of scanning a large volume of strips at a time.

Thanks again BeemerBiker.
