HP Scanjet 4850 Photo Scanner: CN56BTB0X1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been in desperate need for a flatbed scanner that scans negatives that isn't incredibly expensive, handheld or inconsistent (review wise) like the Epson Perfection range, etc. I came across the scanjet series, 4010, 4050 but couldn't really get a real answer on why people were selling them for £100 even though they're pretty old and the driver updates only go back to 2015. I saw someone selling a 4850 for £15 assuming that it would be the same issue, similar model, driver update goes back to 2015 and because it was really cheap it wouldn't matter if it was a bit old - it could still work on the 2015 driver update. However, there is nothing. So, this rather incredible piece of equipment that is all I ever needed is now rendered useless because there is no way of getting any of the installation disc/drivers to work on the Windows 10 operating system. Can anything be done?

Hi,

The scanner is not supported on Windows 10, as clearly listed below:

https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c04635838

You may try the 3rd party Vuescan application, it may allow scanning flatbed scans (but not transparency scans):
