Hello!

I have a question.

We are wanting to use our HP Scanjet 4850 scanner with our current computer which is a Dell laptop running Windows 7 Professional, (32bit). It seems that the software does not work with this operating system. I've looked at downloading the workaround...Windows Vista download but am not having any luck as of yet to get the software to load up and open.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can I get this scanner to work with this coomputer?

Got it working last eve. ! Whoot! I had to monkey around with getting a Vista driver in place...anyway after 3-4 years of not using this scanner(we upgraded to another photo scanner awhile back) it's now back in action.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

 

Can you try this alternative software:

 

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Let us know if that works.

Thanks! Well, it seems like the program loaded o.k. but now it says I don't have the correct driver. I went to the hp site and downloaded the recommended driver for Windows Vista...rather than Windows 7...not sure if that was the correct way to go but it was recommended. Maybe I should try it again with the Windows 7 32bit driver.
