Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

My scanner was blocked after the upgrade to MacOS 26.4 (Tahoe) - March 2026.

I power cycled the printer and checked for firmware updates,

(My printer, HP M477 is about 10 years old and I found no useful documents in HP Support or Apple Support)

The fix required me to go into the Local Network devices and "allow" it again

Start with:   Privacy Settings

Local Network.jpg

Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network > HP Scanner 3.app

HP Scanner permission switch.jpg <- flip switch = should be Green

FYI: The odd thing is that my other computers with the same MacOS version were still able to scan.  That suggested to me that the printer/scanner was OK, it was a local problem on the one computer.  Also, upgrading the MacOS from 26.4 to 26.4.1 did not change anything.

MacOS 26.4

Apple M1 Ultra - "Studio" computer

HP M477fdw multifunction networked AirPrint Color LaserJet/Scanner

P.S. It's a great home office printer scanner.  I use it daily and I would buy another one if it ever broke....
