@tpolevoy, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Document Feeder Issues in HP Scanners!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your document feeder has stopped working, follow the steps below to identify and resolve the issue:

Basic Checks

Ensure Cable Connections:

  • Make sure that the power cable and the USB cable are securely connected to both the scanner and the computer.
  • If you are using a surge protector, ensure that it is plugged in and turned on.

Power Cycle:

  • Turn off the scanner, unplug the power and USB cables, and wait for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the cables and turn on the scanner.

Specific Troubleshooting Steps

Check the Document Feeder Hatch:

  • Open the document feeder hatch and close it firmly to ensure it is securely latched.

Test for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure the power supply is securely connected and the green LED on the power supply case is on.
  • Reconnect the power supply and USB cable, then turn on the scanner.

Clean the Roller and Paper Path:

  • Open the scanner hatch, squeeze the tabs on the feed roller cover, lower the cover, and clean the feed roller with a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
  • Clean any paper dust around the rubber pad below the feed roller.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Inspect the rollers and the paper path for any visible debris such as paper, staples, or clips, and remove them.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
