Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

My HP Samrt app all of a sudden will no longer connect with HP 7740 Scanner.  The app tells me the printer is online and I can print to the printer and the app tells me the level of the printer cartridges.  But, when I try to scan something it gives the message "Couldn't Connect to the Scanner".  I've restarted the printer, deleted the app and reinstalled it.  Nothing seems to work.

Next,

Try Restarting the device (computer, tablet, phone) AND the network (router) where the printer is connected.

 

Next,

Recheck that the device is connecting to the same network as the printer.

What?

For example, if you are using a Mobile Device (tablet, phone) and that device is connected to your Data network, this is not the same thing as connecting wirelessly to your printer on your own network.

 

General Troubleshooting

 

Reminder

It is important that every device is using the latest version of the HP Smart app for that device type.

 

Check / Update >> Every device (computer(s) and mobile) where HP Smart is installed should be running the latest version of the HP Smart application available for that device platform (Operating System / Version).

AND

The printer and device (computer, tablet, phone) where HP Smart is running should be on the same network.
