Tried the "unplug" and " uninstall" suggestions

Drivers updated; printer network and computer network are the same; printer is online and ready; no issue printing; scanning not working -  scanning is an "intermittent" issue (one of about 10 scans work) - with error message:

Scanner Problem

A problem with the scanner has been detected.  Restart the printer and then try to scan again.  If the problem persists, select Get More Help.

Get more help does NOT help

diagnosis states the printer is fine and should be working

spent hours trying to figure this out - any help would be appreciated

Thanks so much for the response - my printer is an HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M377dw.

I have tried everything possible to get the scanner to work - everything else on the printer works fine - during my time researching, i've come to the conclusion that this is an older model and it seems that using wifi and scanner may be the issue - i connected the printer via wire connections and it seems to be working fine so far (fingers crossed).
