This appears to be an inherent 'feature' of the printer unfortunately. Mine blinks whether awake or in sleep mode. Only stops when turned off.

 

I've recently spoken to a HP service agent, who advised that their engineers are aware of the issue, which they plan to address in the next firmware update. Though they couldn't confirm a date this will be deployed.

 

I'm sure HP want to sort it pronto if it's causing unnecessary product returns, so let's hope it's soon.

 

If any moderator reading this can provide some clarity on timing of the update it'll be much appreciated.

I see that you are facing scanning issues with your HP Smart Tank 7000 series printer.

 

I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to update the firmware from HP Smart App.

1. Go to 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPad OS), or HP Smart - Microsoft Store (Windows), or HP Smart - Mac App Store (Mac) (if not installed).

2. After completing the printer setup, click or tap on the printer’s name.

NOTE: Menu names, locations, and available settings vary by printer model.

3. Under Advanced, select Printer Home Page (EWS) or Advanced Settings.

4. Click or tap Tools or Web Services.

5. Click or tap Printer Updates or Product Update, and then click or tap Check Now.

Thank you for your attention here Rainbow,

 

I've since manually downloaded the latest firmware (001.2244A, dated 9th November 2022). As the ability to do this via HP Smart appeared broken out of the box.

This is in the form of an executable. Running this file has fixed the network error message on the HP Smart firmware update page. I can now check for updates from within the app.

 

However, as the blinking scanner light persists, I can only assume the firmware update addressing this is still pending release from your engineers. As originally requested, any information you can share on the likely release date for this firmware fix would be most appreciated.

UPDATE: 2 months later and there is still no firmware fix for this issue.

 

I note posts from other customers reporting this issue from over a year ago.
