Hi @Henri48,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 7600 series scanner is scanning documents crookedly, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Document Placement:

  • Ensure that the document is placed correctly on the scanner glass or in the automatic document feeder (ADF).
  • Align the document with the guides on the scanner glass or the ADF to prevent skewing.

Clean the Scanner Glass and ADF:

  • Dirt, dust, or smudges on the scanner glass or ADF can cause scanning issues. Clean these surfaces using a soft, lint-free cloth slightly moistened with water or a mild glass cleaner.
  • Ensure that the scanner glass is completely dry before scanning again.

Check the Document Feeder Rollers:

  • If you are using the ADF, the rollers might be dirty or worn out. Clean the rollers following the instructions in the printer's user manual.
  • If the rollers are damaged, they might need to be replaced.

Update Printer Firmware and Software: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure that the printer firmware is up to date. Check for firmware updates on the HP website.
  • Update the HP scanning software and drivers to the latest version.

Use the Scanner Alignment Feature:

  • Some HP printers come with an alignment feature that helps calibrate the scanner. Refer to the printer’s user manual to see if this option is available and how to use it.

Adjust Scanner Settings:

  • In the scanning software, check the settings for options that might help with alignment, such as "Straighten Image" or "Auto Crop".
  • These settings can sometimes correct minor alignment issues automatically.

Perform a Scanner Test:

  • Most HP printers have a built-in scanner test or alignment tool. Run this test to check for any issues and follow the on-screen instructions to resolve them.

Physical Check:

  • Ensure that the scanner lid is closed properly when scanning documents. An improperly closed lid can cause documents to scan crookedly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
