HP Smart Tank Wireless 455

When I copy it is very very slow.
When I print in any other way it prints at a normal speed.
I am wondering if there is some way to make print faster

Thanks

Hi @Kenloi,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Smart Tank Wireless 455 is copying very slowly on macOS 12.0 Monterey, while printing from other sources is normal, here are some steps you can take to improve the copying speed:

1. Adjust Copy Quality Settings:

  • Copying speed can be affected by the quality settings. Lowering the quality of the copy can make the process faster.
  • On the printer control panel, check the settings when copying to make sure the copy quality is set to "Draft" or "Normal" rather than "Best."

2. Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. An outdated firmware version may cause performance issues. You can update the firmware from the HP website or via the HP Smart app.

3. Check for Driver Updates: Software and Drivers for HP Smart Tank Wireless 455

  • Ensure that your printer drivers are updated for macOS Monterey. Visit the HP support page to download the latest drivers for macOS.

4. Reset Printer Settings:

  • Sometimes, resetting the printer settings to factory defaults can resolve performance issues. You can do this via the printer’s control panel.

5. Check Connection:

  • If the printer is connected wirelessly, ensure it has a strong signal, as poor Wi-Fi connectivity can slow down copying and printing processes.6.

6. Use HP Smart App for Copying: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • You can also try initiating the copy process from the HP Smart app on your Mac. This app provides more control over settings and might help with speed issues.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply.
I do assume I need to change the quality settings but I don't know where to go to do this, I have looked everywhere but to no avail.
You say to  Adjust Copy Quality Settings on the printer control panel, how?

Thank you

Hi @Kenloi,

Thank you for your reply

To adjust the copy quality settings on your HP Smart Tank Wireless 455, you can do it directly from the printer's control panel by following these steps:

Turn on your printer and load paper into the input tray.

Select the type of copy:

  • Place the document you want to copy on the scanner glass.
  • Press either the Black or Color copy button on the control panel to start copying in black-and-white or color.

Adjust Copy Quality:

  • On the control panel, look for the Copy Settings or Quality option. Depending on your model, this may be indicated by a gear or wrench icon.
  • Use the navigation buttons to scroll through the available options.
  • Select either Fast, Normal, or Best quality depending on your needs. Fast will be quicker but lower quality, while Best will offer higher quality but may take more time.

Start Copying:

  • Once you've selected the quality, press the OK button to confirm and then proceed with copying.

This should help improve the speed of copying if it was set to a higher quality setting. If you don’t find the copy quality settings on the control panel, try reviewing the manual for your specific printer model or adjusting settings via the HP Smart App.
