Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I use the HP Smart app for scanning.  While scanning, the HP Smart app shuts down in the middle of a scanning project (multiple pages).  This is a common occurance.

Hi @Sloan3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If the HP Smart app is shutting down in the middle of a scanning project, there are several steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:

Update the HP Smart App: Ensure that you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app. Check for updates in the app store on your device.

Restart the App: Close the HP Smart app completely and then reopen it to see if the issue is resolved.

Restart Your Device: Sometimes, restarting your device can resolve software issues that may be causing the app to shut down unexpectedly.

Check for Device Compatibility: Ensure that your device is compatible with the HP Smart app. Check the app's compatibility requirements in the app store.

Clear App Cache (Android Only): If you are using an Android device, you can try clearing the cache for the HP Smart app. Go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart > Storage > Clear Cache.

Check for Software Updates: Make sure that your device's operating system is up to date. Sometimes, software updates can resolve compatibility issues with apps.

Reinstall the HP Smart App: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app on your device.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, there may be a more significant issue with the app or your device that requires further troubleshooting over the phone.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
