Hello.

HP Smart app does not add HP Scanjet 200 on MacMini OS XI Big Sur. The scanner does appears in the System Report. It literally says "HP Scanjet 200" is connected to USB bus 3.

I've tried plugging and unplugging from scanner and computer, restarting a few times.

I tried the HP virtual agent and that did not work at all.

It used to work on OS X Mojave and earlier.

The scanner is out of warranty, but I know it was working fine prior to OS XI Big Sur.

Maybe HP has not updated, or fixed bugs of the HP Smart on Big Sur?

Hi,

HP Smart is not intended for an HP Scanjet scanners and not expected to list any such., officially the HP Scanjet 200 is supported up to Mojave (10.14) and not on later macOS versions, but for my experience below steps should likely work:

 

Follow below version of HP Easy Start, as soon as it launches open the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software.

Follow the steps on screen and then click on Set Up New Device and follow the steps to reinstall the printer:

As soon as HP Easy start prompts to install HP Smart, close HP Easy Start and press the Skip to Software Download button, then follow the steps on screen to complete the installation and check for any difference.
