Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 11

I found an answer here about the scan to email - aka share in the hp smart app - that only supports Windows Mail.

Coming soon it seems that Windows Mail is being phased out and New Outlook is replacing it.

Not sure if anyone else has a fix for this but if they do please share, I'm still having clients using Windows Mail doing this but not sure for how much longer.

Hopefully HP has this solution on a road map but not seeing anything at this time.

Thanks

I will not get into a pushing contest about "when" -- the forced migration is not "now".

I have not yet read a "drop" date when all users will be force migrated.

The "when" information is "out there" -- a quick search on the 'net results in many articles on the subject - some are more informative than are others.

Updates / Edits

Further testing shows that yes, the Outlook mail setup works for me in a limited fashion -- While it is not important "how" it might work,  it is important that there are -- at this writing -- significant issues with using Share after Windows Mail has been migrated to the "new" Outlook app.  Will those issues be addressed by HP?  No idea -- HP does not share what they are doing with those outside of HP.

A workaround -

Testing shows that using an HP Smart Shortcut can bypass issue(s) with the mangled Mail > Outlook share.

Suggested >> Consider / Try

Create a Shortcut to email your content to one or more recipients.

Reminders >>

  • The Shortcut method does not allow you to "hide" the list of recipient(s) -- there is no "BCC"
  • At this writing, if you want a copy of the content mailed to you, your email address must be in the list of recipients.
  • Shortcuts Activity works as usual -- the name of the shortcut is displayed along with the list of recipients.

Open HP Smart > Scan the content  -- Import if you have previously saved content

At the point where you would click "Share", instead click to select and use the Shortcut you created for the purpose.

I'm glad you got it working for you.

I will have to try again soon, hopefully HP has this working by then.
