Hi @DELL125,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If HP Print & Scan Doctor can communicate with your printer but HP Smart cannot, it indicates a potential issue with the connection setup specific to the HP Smart app. Follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Check Network Connectivity

  • Ensure the printer and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router to refresh the connection.

Verify the Printer’s Status

  • Confirm the printer is powered on and ready.
  • Print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to confirm its IP address.

Add the Printer Using its IP Address in HP Smart

  1. Open HP Smart.
  2. Click Add Printer.
  3. Select Set Up a New Printer or enter the printer’s IP address manually (found in the network configuration page).

Check the HP Smart App

  • Ensure that the HP Smart app is updated to the latest version.
  • Sign out and back into your HP account in the app.

Disable Firewall/Antivirus Temporarily

  • Some security software can block the HP Smart app. Disable the firewall/antivirus temporarily and try reconnecting the printer.

Reinstall the HP Smart App

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your computer.
  • Download and reinstall the latest version from the HP website or your app store.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug it from the power source for 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect it and turn it back on.

Use HP Smart on a Different Device

  • If possible, try setting up the printer on another device using HP Smart to confirm the issue isn’t device-specific.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Use HP Print & Scan Doctor to check for and install any pending firmware updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
