HP Smart is not a valid replacement for HP Scan and Capture

HP Smart does not seem to allow me to select individual pages from the scan so I can save them to different files.  This is a requirement for our business.  Other than forcing every user to create an on-line account, I cannot see why you would force everyone to move to an inferior application while making the old application no longer available.

HP Smart is not / was never a straight across replacement application for another app.

I believe there is no force intended - you may use or avoid HP Smart.

If your printer supports the printer you have installed the full driver printer software,

Use HP Scan to manage your scan content how you like.

What else?

Some Windows versions and printers support HP Universal Scan - a newer format and slightly different tool set as compared to the original HP Scan software.

Windows Scan is less robust than HP Smart of the full software versions of HP Scan - and also not a "replacement" -- it is supported on Windows 8 and newer.  It might not include the features you want and is mentioned FYI only.

There is the option to invest in software that will combine, deconstruct PDF files as you like.  True - software of this type might best be purchased for a work environment to preclude sharing your PDF files with on line service.  I believe Adobe offers software of the type you seek.

It's such a great scanning program.  We have a new computer for our warehouse and we've found nothing remotely as great as HP Scan and Capture was. It was clean, effective, and didn't take a ton of extra clicks for the same operation. 

What a sad time to learn the app cannot be obtained on new computers.

I tried the HP Scan software referenced below.  It is compatible with only 1 HP model out of 7 we have on our network.  I understand that there are other software packages available (both paid and free) plus the utilities built into Windows.  My complaint is the HP Scan and Capture was a perfect fit for our needs and we can no longer install it on new computers.

I also understand that HP does not which to continue to support this product and can see why they would want to take advantage of the capabilities in their newer devices.  However, I cannot understand why this product had to disappear.  Surely leaving it available with a disclaimer would be a better option.
