Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I can't get HP Smart to load. I have used it for years and suddenly it won't come up and keeps spinning. Can't seem to download a new copy

There are a few things to try -- it is concerning that after uninstalling the application, you cannot get a fresh copy.

 

If the store cannot download and install a fresh copy of the app, there might be more going on than just the HP Smart app not opening.

 

If you have not done so by now,

Add one or more of the following to your checkpoints:

 

If not done, Consider > Update the Firmware >> HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update 

 

Restart everything, including the router that controls the network

 

Reset - Restart the printer > Reference >  Step 2 >   Printer Turns Off Unexpectedly or Repeatedly

 

If using Windows...

Reset the HP Smart Application

Yes, normally the uninstall / reinstall of the app would help...

The Reset requires that your reconfigure HP Smart -- sign in and add printer

After the HP Smart Application is Uninstalled from Settings > Apps > Apps & Features

Restart the computer and log in

Use Easy Start OR Get a new copy of the application from the Microsoft Store

The Installation requires that your reconfigure HP Smart -- sign in and add printer
