Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Fix: “Scanning Unavailable” in HP Smart App

Follow these steps one by one:

1. Enable & Install Windows Updates

Open Windows Update (Search in Start Menu).

If updates are paused → click Resume updates.

If not paused → click Check for updates.

Install all available updates.

Restart your PC.

2. Power Reset the Printer

Keep the printer ON.

Disconnect the power cable from the printer.

Unplug the other end from the wall socket.

Wait 60 seconds.

Plug the cable back directly into a wall outlet (not a spike board).

Reconnect to the printer and turn it on.

3. Check USB Connection Status in HP Smart

Open the HP Smart app:

✔ Ready (green check) → Printer connected

Printer offline →

Reseat USB cable

Try a different USB port

Replace the cable if faulty

4. Reset USB Printer Connection

Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.

Close the HP Smart app.

Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers (Windows)
or Printers & Scanners (macOS).

Remove the printer from the list.

Reconnect the USB cable to the printer.

If the printer does not reappear → Click Add a Printer/Scanner and follow instructions.

5. Try Scanning With Other Software

Windows: Use Windows Fax and Scan.

Mac: Use Image Capture.

If scanning works here → the issue is with HP Smart app, not the printer.

6. Reinstall HP Smart App

Uninstall HP Smart.

Download a fresh version from:

Microsoft Store, or

123.hp.com

Install and set up again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
