The duplex scanning to a pdf document in HP Smart only works for a few days on my MacBook Pro running Monterey OS.  After a few days of scanning, HP Smart fails unexpectedly after the scan process is finished when it tries to load the pages in the preview window.  Sometimes uninstalling the app and reinstalling the app on my MacBook Pro will get it to work for another couple days; however, sometimes HP Smart fails immediately after reinstallation.  The strange thing is that it fails only for 2-sided scanning on my Mac.   Single page scanning from both the glass and document feeder works without failure.  HP Smart on my iPad and iPhone also continue to work without failure.  Just the MacOs version is giving me problems.  Anyone have some ideas as to the problem?

Hi,

HP Easy Scan surely support duplex scanning.

When you open HP Easy Scan click the top presets menu and then select Edit Settings.

Set the Scan Type as Document, the Source as Automatic Document Feeder and set the resolution as 300 dpi or lower, then you will see the two sided scanning checkbox below.

You may save the settings as a preset and then directly select it from within the Presets menu.

Please let me know if that helps.

Hi,

Let's start using HP Easy Scan instead to scan from your Mac, may you able to successfully scan with HP Easy Scan instead?

Thanks for the response but HP Easy Scan does not appear to support automatic duplex scanning and lacks other scan options that HP Smart possesses.   I'm more interested in finding out why HP Smart duplex scanning only works reliably on iOS and not MacOs.   You would think HP would want to get it fixed.. but that's not the way things are done anymore.

Thank you very much.  I didn't investigate all those drop down menus in HP Easy Scan thoroughly enough when I first tried it.  I now see all the configuration options that I need.
